On 11 September 2025, Samaj Kalyan O Unnayan Shangstha (SKUS) organized a Sports and Prize Giving Ceremony program under the project โ€œEnhancing Community Protection, Prevention and Response Mechanism in Coxโ€™s Bazar.โ€ The project is generously supported by Child Fund New Zealand and technically assisted by Educo Bangladesh.
The events aimed to promote physical health, develop fundamental movement skills, foster positive attitudes and encourage teamwork and well-being of the children. Various sports events like Rope spinning, Rohingya traditional game Sallun, Pellow passing, Ball throwing, etc. and Prize Giving ceremony were held in front of CiC office, Camp-8-E, Ukhiya supported by Educo Bangladesh. On the main event, SKUS organized a colorful prize giving ceremony with the participation of 255 individuals, including children, adolescents, parents, community leaders and members.
The program was honoured by the presence of Mr. Gazi Shariful Hasan, Camp In-Charge (Deputy Secretary), Camp 8-E, Md. Shahidul Islam, Project Manager, Educo, along with team members of Educo Bangladesh, CiC officials and other stakeholders. Camp In charge expressed his appreciation to SKUS and Educo Bangladesh for their efforts in organizing the sports and prize giving ceremony and creating opportunities for children to engage in different games.
He emphasized that this type of game and cultural event can provide a safe and supportive environment for Rohingya adolescents to express themselves, develop their potential and well-being. He requested that adolescents, especially boys, should be respectful towards girls and not behave in any inappropriate manner. Must ensure the protection and dignity of girls.
Project Coordinator, SKUS emphasized that playing provides children with important life skills, such as teamwork, discipline, and resilience. Play and prize giving activities are an important part of students’ overall development, influencing their physical health, emotional well-being, academic success, and social skills. He thanks the Camp In charge, CiC officials, members of CBCPCs, WSG and children for their support in organizing these events.
The event concluded with a grand prize-giving ceremony, where the shining stars of the competition were awarded for their hard work and dedication. Each trophy and prize werenโ€™t just a reward, it was a symbol of perseverance, courage, and the joy of healthy competition. The program ended with a vote of thanks by the Project coordinator, SKUS.
