Jesmin Prema, Chairperson, SKUS, participated in the Regional Humanitarian Partnership Week (RHPW) 2024, held from December 10-12 in Bangkok, Thailand. The event was hosted jointly by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) in collaboration with the Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN), International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA), and Community World Service Asia (CWSA), brought together key players in the humanitarian sector from across the Asia-Pacific region.
The theme of RHPW 2024, “Locally Led Solutions in Humanitarian Responses,” vibrated intensely with the ongoing shifts in global humanitarian action, emphasizing the critical need for local leadership and equitable partnerships in shaping more effective and inclusive solutions.
She was one of the panelists for the session titled “Empowering the Rohingya Community and their Futures: Local Leadership and Equitable Partnerships for Inclusive Solutions.” She shared the context, experience, and expertise of how equitable partnerships challenge women-led organizations and humanitarian responses.
SKUS is incredibly grateful to NGO Platform Cox’s Bazar and Educo Bangladesh for supporting her participation in this important event and for allowing us to deepen our understanding of the collaborative approaches required for strengthening local humanitarian action. The event covered plenary sessions, group presentations including experience sharing, and a marketplace.
