SKUS Observes 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Calling for United Action to End Digital Violence.

Samaj Kalyan O Unnayan Shangstha (SKUS), a women-led national NGO working for women’s empowerment, leadership, and gender equality in Cox’s Bazar, proudly observed the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence on 10 December 2025 at the Ukhiya Project Office with strong community participation.
Aligned with the global theme “UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls,” the event brought together SKUS employees, trainees, community members, and other key stakeholders to raise awareness and strengthen collective action. The day began with a vibrant awareness rally where participants marched with messages promoting safety, equality, and resistance to all forms of violence, including physical, emotional, sexual, social, and digital abuse. This was followed by a reflective discussion session focusing on preventing online harassment and digital abuse, protecting human rights and dignity, ensuring the safety of girls in vulnerable communities, and mobilising collective action to challenge harmful norms and practices.
SKUS chairperson Ms Jesmin Prema highlighted the growing impact of technology in both enabling and combating violence while encouraging participants to use digital platforms for awareness, advocacy, and empowerment. The event concluded with a meaningful pledge where all participants declared, “I will keep myself safe and help ensure the safety of others,” symbolising personal responsibility and shared community commitment to ending violence against women and girls. SKUS believes that the 16 Days of Activism is not just an annual observance but a continuous movement towards building a just, safe, and dignified society, and remains committed to promoting positive change at the grassroots level.
