Every year comes with lessons of its own, and 2025 was no exception; it tested us with many challenges. From the Rohingya crisis and shrinking humanitarian resources to the mounting pressures of climate change, rising youth unemployment, and the alarming threat of human trafficking, each of these realities pushed Samaj Kalyan O Unnayan Shangstha (SKUS) to stand firm against risks and adopt timely, practical policies aimed at shaping a sustainable future.
At times, it felt as though the moment had come to stop altogether; yet our responsibility to disadvantaged communities and to the country renewed our determination to keep moving forward. On the faces of our field colleagues, there was uncertainty and despair, but never the will to give up. Securing assurances of humanitarian support from donors was also difficult, and survival itself became the greatest struggle—especially for women-led organizations.
One lesson became clearer in 2025: people no longer seek only assistance; they want to live dignified lives by being connected to established platforms and networks. SKUS is striving to build that strength. Creating income opportunities for local women, equipping youth with employable skills, and nurturing the desire to learn among the Rohingya community remain our central goals.
Working in the Rohingya camps, we have seen that the crisis is not only about food or shelter; an even greater problem is the absence of a future. Standing beside the displaced population while ensuring that local communities do not lose employment opportunities has been a real challenge. That is why we have taken initiatives to balance both communities by implementing technical training, livelihood improvement, and education programs together.
Climate change in 2025 made risks even more evident— whether in coastal areas, the hills, or the Rohingya camps. Cyclones, landslides, and fires have multiplied the dangers. In this new reality, we have been conducting drills, preparedness, and awareness activities with local CPP volunteers, fire services, and youth groups. The recent earthquake has also forced us to think anew. Only coordinated efforts and awareness can protect us from such natural disasters, requiring long-term, sustainable planning and implementation. The struggle to save lives is no longer what it was last year; it is sharper, more urgent, and more real.
Digital platforms have also brought new threats. Misinformation, rumors, the scourge of drugs, and online gambling have risen alarmingly. Ordinary people have been misled, tensions have flared in camps, and social unrest has emerged in different parts of the country. Therefore, online safety awareness and the responsible use of information must be addressed with greater coordination and accountability. We also believe that strong measures from the government and policymakers are necessary in this regard.
Personally, and as an institution, one heartbreaking incident after another could have stopped us in our tracks. But I have seen that every SKUS worker and every community member has lifted us again. The love of the people is our greatest courage and strength.
In 2026, we want to work even more closely with reality—rooted in the ground—to expand humanitarian efforts. Technical education and skills development will remain our top priority because, without work opportunities, development exists only on paper, not in life. Women’s financial independence, youth employment, and sustainable livelihoods for the Rohingya community—these three areas will receive our highest focus.
Perhaps humanitarian funding will shrink further, and crises may deepen, but abandoning disadvantaged people is not an option. SKUS intends to move forward despite its limitations, believing that if the government, the United Nations, donors, and local communities stand together, the path will indeed become smoother.
For us, 2026 is another new opportunity to stand beside disadvantaged people, to walk with them, and to remain committed to building the society and country of their dreams.

প্রতিটি বছর আসে, আমাদের নতুন নতুন অনেক কিছু শিখিয়ে যায়। ২০২৫ সালটি ও তার ব্যতিক্রম ছিল না অনেক চ্যালেঞ্জ ছিল। রোহিঙ্গা পরিস্থিতি, মানবিক তহবিলের ক্রমাগত সংকোচন, জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের নতুন চাপ, তরুণদের কাজের অভাব, মানবপাচারের মতো ভয়াবহ ঝুঁকি, শতবাধা উপেক্ষা করে সমাজ কল্যাণ ও উন্নয়ন সংস্থা (স্কাস) কে প্রতিনিয়ত ঝুঁকি মোকাবেলা এবং টেকসই ভবিষ্যৎ বিনির্মাণের জন্য হাতে নিতে হয়েছে সময়োপযোগী পলিসি।
একটা সময় মনে হয়েছে, এই বুঝি সময় এলো থেমে যাওয়ার; পরোক্ষণে, সমাজ পরিবেষ্টিত সুবিধাবঞ্চিত জনগোষ্ঠী এবং দেশের প্রতি দায়বদ্ধতা আমাদেরকে নতুন কিছু করার জন্য প্রত্যয়ী করে তুলে। মাঠের সহকর্মীদের মুখে অনিশ্চয়তার হতাশা ছিল, কিন্তু হাল ছাড়ার ইচ্ছা কখনো দেখিনি। তারপর, দাতা সংস্থাগুলোর মানবিক সহায়তার আশ্বাস পাওয়াও দুষ্কর ছিল , তখন টিকে থাকাটাই হয়ে ওঠে বড় লড়াই—বিশেষ করে নারী প্রধান সংস্থা গুলোর জন্য।
২০২৫ সালে কাজ করতে গিয়ে একটা বিষয় আরও স্পষ্ট হয়ে গেছে—মানুষ এখন শুধু সহায়তা চায় না; চায় নিজেকে প্রতিষ্ঠিত প্ল্যাটফর্ম বা নেটওয়ার্কের সাথে সম্পৃক্ত রেখে সমোন্নত জীবন-নির্বাহ করতে। তাই স্কাস সেই শক্তিটাই তৈরি করার চেষ্টা করছে। স্থানীয় নারীদের আয়ের সুযোগ, যুব সমাজকে কর্মসংস্থানে সম্পৃক্ত করার মতো সময় উপযোগী দক্ষতা, রোহিঙ্গা জনগোষ্ঠীর মধ্যে শেখার ইচ্ছাকে এগিয়ে নেওয়ার মতো কার্যক্রমে সম্পৃক্ত করাই আমাদের প্রধান লক্ষ্যে।
রোহিঙ্গা ক্যাম্পগুলোতে কাজ করতে গিয়ে আমরা দেখেছি, সংকট শুধু খাদ্য বা আশ্রয়ের নয়, নিরাপত্তা থেকেও বড় সমস্যা এখন ভবিষ্যৎহীনতা। আশ্রিত জনগোষ্ঠীর পাশে দাঁড়াতে গিয়ে স্থানীয় জনগোষ্ঠীর কর্মসংস্থানের সুযোগ যেন কমে না যায়—এটাও ছিল একটি বাস্তব চ্যালেঞ্জ। তাই দুই সম্প্রদায়ের মাঝে ভারসাম্য রেখে, কারিগরি প্রশিক্ষণ, জীবনমান উন্নয়ন, এবং শিক্ষাসহ অন্যান্য কার্যক্রম একসাথে বাস্তবায়নের উদ্যোগ নিয়েছি।
জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন ২০২৫ সালে আরও স্পষ্ট করে দিয়েছে—উপকূল, পাহাড়, রোহিঙ্গা ক্যাম্প—সব জায়গাতেই ঝুঁকি বহুগুণে বেড়েছে। ঘূর্ণিঝড়, পাহাড়ধস, অগ্নিকাণ্ড—এই নতুন বাস্তবতায় আমরা স্থানীয় সিপিপি, ফায়ার সার্ভিস, তরুণ স্বেচ্ছাসেবকদের নিয়ে মহড়া, প্রস্তুতি এবং সচেতনতামূলক কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করে আসছি। অপরদিকে, সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে ঘটে যাওয়া ভূমিকম্প আমাদেরকে নতুন করে ভাবাচ্ছে! সমন্বিত প্রচেষ্টা এবং সচেতনতাই পারে আমাদের এই প্রাকৃতিক মহাদুর্যোগ থেকে রক্ষা করতে, যার জন্য প্রয়োজন দীর্ঘমেয়াদী টেকসই পরিকল্পনা এবং বাস্তবায়ন।মানুষের জীবন বাঁচানোর লড়াই আর গত বছরের মতো নেই—এখন আরও তীক্ষ্ণ, আরও বাস্তব।
ডিজিটাল প্লাটফর্মের মাধ্যমে অপপ্রচার, গুজব, মাদকের ভয়ংকর থাবা,অনলাইন জুয়া- এগুলোও এবার ভীষণভাবে মাথাচাড়া দিয়ে উঠেছে। সাধারণ মানুষ বিভ্রান্ত হয়েছে, ক্যাম্পে উত্তেজনা তৈরি হয়েছে, এমনকি দেশের বিভিন্ন জায়গায় সামাজিক অস্থিরতাও দেখা গেছে। তাই অনলাইন নিরাপত্তা সচেতনতা এবং তথ্যের সঠিক ব্যবহার—এসব নিয়েও কাজ করতে হবে আগের চেয়েও সমন্বিত এবং দায়িত্বশীলতার মাধ্যমে। উপরোন্তু বিষয়ে সরকার এবং নীতি-নির্ধারকদের কঠোর পদক্ষেপ নেয়া প্রয়োজন বলে আমরা ধারণা করি।
ব্যক্তিগত,পারিবারিক, এবং সামাজিকভাবে একের পর এক হৃদয়ভাঙা ঘটনা আমাকে এবং আমার প্রতিষ্ঠানকে থমকে দিতে পারত। কিন্তু আমি দেখেছি—স্কাসের প্রতিটি কর্মী, কমিউনিটির প্রতিটি মানুষ, আমাদের আবার শক্ত করে ধরে দাঁড় করিয়ে দিয়েছে। মানুষের ভালবাসায় আমাদের সবচেয়ে বড় সাহস ও শক্তি ।
২০২৬ সালে আমরা বাস্তবতা বুঝে,মাটির সাথে মিশে আরোও মানবিক কাজ করতে চাই। কারিগরি শিক্ষা ও দক্ষতা উন্নয়ন আমাদের প্রধান অগ্রাধিকার থাকবে। কারণ কাজের সুযোগ ছাড়া উন্নয়ন শুধু কাগজে থাকে, জীবনে নয়। নারীদের আর্থিক স্বাধীনতা, তরুণদের কর্মসংস্থান, রোহিঙ্গা জনগোষ্ঠীর টেকসই জীবিকার পথ—এই তিনটি জায়গাই আমরা সর্বোচ্চ গুরুত্ব দেয়ার পরিকল্পনা হাতে নিয়েছি।
হয়তো, মানবিক তহবিল আরও কমে আসবে; সংকট আরও বাড়বে; কিন্তু সুবিধাবঞ্চিত মানুষকে ছেড়ে দেওয়ার কোনো সুযোগ নেই। স্কাস নিজের সীমাবদ্ধতা নিয়েই এগোতে চায়, আমরা বিশ্বাস করি- সরকার, জাতিসংঘ, দাতা সংস্থা এবং স্থানীয় জনগোষ্ঠী, সবাই একসাথে থাকলে পথটা অবশ্যই মসৃণ হবে।
২০২৬ সাল আমাদের কাছে আরেকটি নতুন সুযোগ—সুবিধাবঞ্চিত মানুষদের পাশে দাঁড়ানোর, তাদের সাথে নিয়ে,তাদের স্বপ্নের সমাজ ও দেশ গঠনে আমরা প্রতিশ্রুতিবদ্ধ।
সবাইকে নতুন বছরের আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা। মানবতার পথটা কঠিন, কিন্তু অর্থবহ—আপনাদের সঙ্গে নিয়ে আমরা সেই পথেই হাঁটতে চাই।
