Orientation on malaria prevention and control program held on May 10 & 13, 2018 at Sitakunda, Mirsharai in Chattogram and Ramgar of Khagrachari. In these 3 orientation sessions there are 60 participants were present. UP chairman of respective union, UP member, civil society member, community people were in these orientation session. The aim of the orientation session is to increase awareness of the people about malaria, its treatment etc.
SKUS being a partner in GFATM of NFM Malaria Control Program has been operating the program since 2007 in four upazilas- Mirsharai, Sitakunda and Rawzan under Chittagong district and Ramgar upazilla under Khagrachari district, covering a total population 977889 in 214820 household. A total of 89 Health Worker, 4 Lab Technicians, 2 Program Organise 4 Upazilla Manager, 4 Service staff cum admin Officer, 4 Supportive staff Lab, one Accountant and one Project Manager have been working to implement the program. SKUS has established a warehouse and a laboratory in each of the upazilas and they are functioning.
SKUS has been implementing the Malaria Control Program with BRAC consortium, aiming to reduce burden of malaria of community people of endemic area through provide quality diagnosis and effective treatment to 90% of the estimated malaria cases, to promote use of ITN/LLINs in 80% of the households and selective IRS for containment of outbreaks, and strengthen program management capacity and coordination and partnership in malaria control program. This partnership supports the increased access to malaria treatment and prevention and increases awareness of the people through providing BCC activities.
